About this service
A 3D printed part fresh off the build plate is rarely the finished product. Supports need removing, surfaces need attention, and for most professional applications — from hero props on camera to functional parts in industrial environments — the quality of post-processing defines the quality of the result.
P3DA handles the complete post-processing workflow in-house. Support removal is done carefully to avoid surface damage, particularly on resin parts with fine detail. Surface preparation ranges from light sanding for primer adhesion through to filling and sculpting for organic shapes that need to read as completely smooth on camera. Priming is done in a controlled environment to ensure even coverage.
For film and television work, we can take a print through the full finishing cycle — sanding, filling, priming, base coating, and detailing — and deliver a hero-quality piece ready for on-set use or further work by the production's paint team. For industrial applications, we provide functional finishes: hardware installation, insert pressing, assembly of multi-part prints, and protective coatings where needed. Screen printing and sticker application for branding and labelling are also handled in-house.

How it works
Brief & Specification
Tell us the finish standard required — camera-ready hero, display quality, or functional. For painted finishes, provide colour references (RAL, Pantone, or reference samples). For industrial parts, specify hardware to be installed and any coating requirements.
Preparation
Support removal, sanding, filling, and surface build-up to achieve the base geometry. For complex organic shapes, this may involve sculpting over the print surface to eliminate layer lines entirely.
Priming & Finishing
Priming in a controlled environment, followed by painting, detailing, weathering, or hardware installation as specified. Complex paint jobs are discussed at brief stage with reference colour confirmation.
Quality Check & Handoff
Finished parts are inspected against the brief before dispatch. For film and TV work, we can photograph finished pieces for production records before they leave the facility.
