Engineering & Prototyping
Accelerate product development with rapid prototyping, fast design iteration, and engineering-grade materials — from first concept through validation to short-run production.
Where 3D printing fits in your workflow
P3DA serves three primary roles for engineering and product development teams.
Rapid Prototyping
Multiple design iterations in days, not weeks. Test fit, form, and function before committing to tooling. We've saved clients from expensive mid-tooling redesigns more times than we can count.
Production Tooling
Jigs, fixtures, and assembly aids in engineering-grade materials. Dimensionally accurate, repeatable, and available at a fraction of the cost and lead time of machined alternatives.
Reverse Engineering
Legacy components with no CAD data. Worn parts that need reconstructing to nominal geometry. We scan, reconstruct, and reproduce — extending the life of equipment that has no replacement path.
What we produce
- Rapid prototypes for design validation — multiple iterations per week
- Functional testing prototypes in production-representative materials
- Custom jigs, fixtures, and assembly tooling
- Go/no-go inspection gauges and quality fixtures
- Short-run production parts where tooling isn't cost-effective
- Reverse engineering of legacy components with no CAD data
- 3D scanning for quality inspection and deviation analysis
- End-of-arm tooling for robotic and automation applications
3D printing vs injection moulding. The crossover point is typically 500–1000 units. Below that threshold, 3D printing is almost always more economical when tooling costs are factored in. We'll give you a straight answer on which process makes sense for your volume.
Engineering materials
The same engineering filaments we run in our own production farm — available for your application.
